The German Ministry of the Interior announced today, Friday, that more than 4,000 Syrian refugees have registered in the voluntary return program to Syria since the beginning of this year until September 15th, while 2,132 refugees have already returned to their country during the same period.
The program, managed by the German authorities, grants 4,000 euros to each family wishing to return, without specifying the nationality or region that returnees choose within Syria. The program is part of a long-term policy that includes several countries and aims to support voluntary departure from Germany only once.
This announcement comes amid increasing European discussions about immigration and asylum policies, with calls to provide humanitarian and sustainable solutions that ensure the dignity of refugees and take into account their social and security conditions.
