The new Egyptian series "Game and Heart Turned Serious" has succeeded in attracting attention and achieving high viewership, becoming in just a few days the talk of social media and the artistic community in Egypt, thanks to its bold approach to an issue considered one of the most dangerous challenges of the digital age.
The drama focuses on the dangers of the online space for children and teenagers, inspired by the famous game "Roblox", revealing the dark sides of electronic games, starting from digital addiction, through violence, blackmail, and sexual exploitation, leading to tragic outcomes that may end in suicide or death.
Realistic drama and awareness messages
The series presents a realistic image of family life across different social classes, highlighting the lack of digital awareness among some families, and how the absence of parental supervision exposes children to real dangers within the virtual world, in a clear message emphasizing the necessity of awareness and family supervision when children interact with electronic games.
The work does not blame the children as much as it holds society and the family system responsible for the negligence, reflecting a clear conflict between a generation raised on traditional values and another generation whose consciousness has been shaped by screens and digital games.
Coinciding with real events
The events of the series coincide with painful real incidents witnessed in Egypt and the Arab world, most notably the suicide of a student in the Dokki area of Giza governorate in September 2025, after losing a sum of money within one of the electronic games, which reopened the discussion about the psychological and social effects of digital game addiction.
Calls to ban "Roblox"
Amid the escalating controversy, media reports indicated that the Egyptian Senate is considering taking measures to ban or block the game "Roblox", following a request submitted by one of the female deputies to discuss ways to protect children from the dangers of electronic games, amid growing concerns about their impact on criminal behavior and children's mental health.
Cast of the work
The series "Game and Heart Turned Serious" stars Ahmed Zaher, Suhair Ben Amara, Rahma Ahmed Farag, Omar El-Shenawy, Hanan Suleiman, Donia El-Masry, alongside children Omar Sherif, Youssef Salah, Mona Ahmed Zaher, and Raymond Tawfik.
It is considered a model for awareness-raising dramatic works that do not settle for mere excitement but seek to sound the alarm about the dangers of digital addiction and call for community and family awareness to protect younger generations in an era of rapid technology.
