The Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan condemned the Israeli attack that targeted the Qatari capital Doha, emphasizing that "those who adopt a policy of terrorism will not reach their goals and will not achieve them".
Erdogan stated in remarks on Tuesday evening: "I strongly condemn this Israeli attack on Qatar, which represents a blatant violation of international law and the sovereignty of a brotherly state, and an assault on security and stability in the region." He added that targeting the negotiating delegation of Hamas in Doha "showed that Netanyahu's government is out of its mind and seeks to deepen the conflict and perpetuate instability".
For its part, the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement considering that "targeting the Hamas negotiating team during ceasefire negotiations proves that Israel is not seeking peace but rather perpetuating war," affirming that what happened "clearly reveals Israeli expansionist policies and its adoption of terrorism as an official tool".
The statement emphasized that Turkey "stands by the State of Qatar against this vile attack that targets its sovereignty and security," calling on the international community to take urgent action to stop such assaults.
Earlier, the Qatari Ministry of Interior announced the death and injury of several members of the internal security forces in the Israeli airstrikes on Doha, while Hamas confirmed that the Israeli army failed to assassinate its leaders participating in the negotiating delegation during the attack.
