The Jordanian Minister of Transport, Nidal Al-Qatamin, emphasized the importance of developing cooperation with Syria in the field of regional land transport, stressing the need to remove obstacles that hinder the movement of Jordanian trucks across Syrian territory, as this has a direct impact on trade exchange and economic growth between the two countries.
This came during a meeting that brought together Al-Qatamin with the Jordanian ambassador in Damascus, Sufyan Al-Qudat, on Sunday, where they discussed ways to facilitate transport and freight movement from Jordan to Syria, in addition to the logistical challenges facing the transport sector, and possible solutions to improve the flow of goods.
Al-Qatamin pointed out that enhancing cooperation with Syria in this vital sector positively reflects on the Jordanian national economy and contributes to achieving greater flexibility in land transport, especially with neighboring countries such as Lebanon and Iraq.
This meeting comes as part of following up on the results of the first meeting of the Jordanian-Syrian Higher Coordination Council, which was held in Damascus on May 20, where practical steps were agreed upon to develop the transport sector. The joint Syrian-Jordanian technical committee for land transport also held a meeting in Amman on June 25 and 26 to continue coordination and activate bilateral agreements.
