The lawyers Adel Khlaian and Nour Bakr filed a lawsuit against Mrs. Brivan Kordo after she attacked a traffic officer in the Sabaa Bahrat square in Damascus, after parking her car in a prohibited area.
The lawsuit clarified that the charges include inciting sectarian and religious strife under Article 307 of the Penal Code, and defamation and insult according to Article 373, following the appearance of the woman in a video directing offensive remarks towards the Alawite sect during the incident.
Lawyer Adel Khlaian explained that the aim of the lawsuit is to deter any assault on public employees and to protect their dignity, emphasizing that the law protects freedom of expression as long as it remains within the bounds of others' rights.
In turn, the Ministry of Interior took the necessary legal measures, as Mrs. Kordo and the officer Nader Al-Ahmad were summoned to record their statements and present them to the judiciary.
The director of the media office in the ministry reported that a number of citizens submitted complaints condemning the assault and called for accountability to ensure it does not happen again.
Attempts were made to contact Mrs. Kordo to know the reasons for filming the video and her justifications, but her phone number was turned off, and her account on "WhatsApp" does not receive messages.
