Damascus and Beirut Discuss the Detainees File in a Preliminary Meeting Between the Justice and Security Committees

The meeting witnessed extensive discussions on the mechanisms of judicial and security cooperation between the two countries, and ways to address the pending files related to the Syrian and Lebanese detainees, ensuring respect for legal and human rights, and enhancing mutual trust between the concerned institutions.
The discussions also addressed ways to activate the bilateral agreements of a judicial nature and develop coordination mechanisms between the relevant authorities, in line with current challenges and contributing to speeding up the legal procedures related to the detainees.
This meeting comes as part of joint efforts to establish sustainable cooperation between Damascus and Beirut, and to emphasize the importance of direct dialogue in addressing humanitarian and legal issues of a regional nature.
