Axios reported today, Sunday, that a U.S. official stated that the United States is ready to hold new talks in Geneva next Friday if it receives an Iranian proposal regarding a nuclear agreement within 48 hours.
U.S. officials indicated that the ongoing efforts may represent the last opportunity that President Donald Trump grants to Iran before the potential launch of a wide-ranging U.S.-Israeli attack.
According to Trump’s advisors, the president may change course and order a strike on Iran, although several members of his team are currently advising him to be patient and allow space for the diplomatic path.
A U.S. official noted that the Trump administration and Tehran may be looking to reach a temporary agreement that paves the way for a final agreement on the nuclear file, emphasizing that Washington is still awaiting the Iranian proposal.
