Assassination of Iranian Opposition Activist in Istanbul

The Iranian activist Masoud Nazari was killed on Tuesday evening in the Turkish city of Istanbul after being shot while returning home in the Arnavutköy area.

The Turkish agencies "Dogan" and "Ikhlas" reported that Nazari was taken to the hospital but died from his injuries.

Nazari, a Kurd from Kermanshah province in western Iran, was known in Sunni Kurdish religious circles and emerged as one of the voices critical of the Iranian regime.

The rights organization "Halvesh", based abroad, confirmed that the activist had received repeated threats in the past due to his political and religious activities.

The incident has sparked widespread reactions in human rights circles, with calls for a transparent investigation into the circumstances of the assassination, especially as it comes after a series of incidents targeting Iranian opposition figures abroad in recent years.
