Some social media pages have circulated news in the past hours indicating the start of establishing new camps in the Akhtarin area in northern rural Aleppo.

These reports claimed that "these camps are designated to accommodate displaced individuals from Gaza due to the ongoing Israeli aggression," accompanied by images showing organized camp construction works, sparking wide inquiries among followers and activists.

Based on these reports, the local council of "Akhtarin" issued an official statement through its Facebook page, strongly denying these allegations, confirming that what is being circulated is not related to reality.

The council clarified that "the camp being constructed in the village of Baraan is an old project that started several months before the liberation of Syria and the fall of the Assad regime, meaning it is not a sudden development and is not related to the events in Gaza.

The council emphasized that "the main purpose of this project is to shelter Syrian refugees, moving them from the makeshift camps where they have been living in harsh conditions for years due to war and displacement."

The Akhtarin council stressed that "the project does not include any plans to receive displaced Palestinians from Gaza, urging the media and activists to verify accuracy and not to follow rumors that may cause confusion among residents and displaced individuals."
