The Egyptian artist Amy Samir Ghanem put an end to the recent controversy surrounding her statements about her colleague Yasmine Abdel Aziz, confirming that any comparison between them is illogical due to the difference in generation and artistic experience.
In exclusive statements to "Erem News," Amy said that her comments were not meant to belittle Yasmine's artistic level, but were related to personal matters, expressing her surprise: "Is there anyone who doesn't know Yasmine Abdel Aziz?".
She clarified that the circulating statements date back to an interview she conducted with Lebanese media personality Neshan about six years ago, questioning why they are being circulated again now. She confirmed that she knows Yasmine's works well since her beginnings, including her famous series "A Woman from the Time of Love" in 1998, but pointed out that their personal relationship is not strong: "If we meet, we greet each other... but we've never talked on the phone, for example."
Amy emphasized that her comments were not meant to offend, calling on social media audiences and the media not to distort her statements. She also expressed her great love for Yasmine Abdel Aziz, noting a recent meeting where Yasmine told her that her late mother, Dalal Abdel Aziz, loved Yasmine and prayed for her during her health crisis and treatment abroad.
Amy concluded her statement by affirming her respect for the career of every artist and that she does not wish for any unnecessary competition among comedy stars in Egypt, pointing out that any controversy regarding her friendship with Yasmine Abdel Aziz is merely a misunderstanding.
