The organization "Japan Stands with Syria" called on the international community to reveal the identities of all those who committed the chemical massacre in Eastern and Western Ghouta in 2013 and bring them to justice, on the 12th anniversary of the most horrific chemical attack that claimed the lives of more than 1300 civilians, including men, women, and children.
The organization stated in a statement published on its account on X: "After 12 years, the demand for truth and justice remains more urgent than ever," affirming its full solidarity with the families of the victims who have lived through an unforgettable tragedy.
The statement added that accountability must include the big heads of the former regime, the executors on the ground, and all those who helped protect the perpetrators, noting that attempts to destroy evidence and silence witnesses will never erase the facts of the massacre from the memory of Syrians.
The organization emphasized that the right to know the truth is a cornerstone of transitional justice, and that the voices of the victims and their families must be heard, not only to honor their suffering but to ensure that such horrific crimes are not repeated in the future.
