"We Will Not Surrender the Weapons" — Hezbollah Threatens Confrontation and Blames the Government for the Slippage

Hezbollah's Secretary-General, Naeem Qassem, reiterated the party's stance against surrendering its weapons, warning that any attempt to impose this will lead to widespread confrontations, describing the government's decision as a "sin."
Qassem stated that the party refuses to surrender its weapons, describing any project for disarmament as serving "Israel" even if it is framed in a national context. He added: "We will engage in a Karbala-like confrontation" and warned the government by saying that "the ship will sink with everyone," emphasizing that "Israel is the central danger to the region."
Qassem's statements come amid internal and international pressures on Hezbollah to surrender its weapons to the Lebanese state. The government asserts that its decision aligns with its commitments outlined in the ceasefire agreement brokered by the United States, which ended the fighting between the party and Israel on November 27 of last year, stipulating that the carrying of weapons should be limited to official security and military agencies in Lebanon.
