U.S. Energy Secretary: Government Shutdown Puts Nuclear Security at Risk

U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright warned that the ongoing government shutdown in the United States threatens the safety of the country's nuclear weapons, blaming the Democratic Party for the crisis.
Wright said in an interview with "Fox News" that the remaining funding for the National Nuclear Security Administration — responsible for overseeing the U.S. nuclear arsenal and operating nuclear submarine and aircraft carrier reactors — is only enough for eight days.
He explained that the expiration of this deadline will force the administration to take emergency measures that could negatively impact the security of the United States. He added that Democrats are contributing to prolonging the crisis by delaying crucial votes in Congress.
It is noted that the U.S. government has been in a partial shutdown since October 1, after Republicans and Democrats failed to reach an agreement on the new fiscal year's budget.
