The U.S. Central Command announced on Wednesday that Iran has deployed ships and military equipment within civilian ports designated for commercial navigation, in a move it said could pose a risk to maritime shipping in the region.
The Central Command explained that the Iranian regime's use of civilian ports for military purposes endangers the lives of civilians and those working in the maritime sector, and increases the likelihood of escalation in vital waterways.
It added that several Iranian civilian ports along the Strait of Hormuz are being used to launch attacks that threaten international navigation, noting that the strait is one of the most important maritime routes for energy transport and global trade.
