Ukraine officially requests a new funding program from the International Monetary Fund to support financial stability

In a post on the Telegram app, Svyrydenko stated that she delivered a formal letter to the head of the IMF mission, Gavin Gray, during a meeting in Kyiv, which includes a request to activate a new funding program that meets the country's needs at this stage and beyond.
This move is part of a government plan aimed at enhancing financial stability and providing the necessary liquidity to cover the budget deficit, which is estimated at about $43.9 billion for 2025, according to previous reports from the fund.
Ukraine had previously received funding of $15.5 billion under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) program, which ends in 2027, but the new government believes that the continuation of the war until 2026 requires restructuring international support and expanding its scope.
Kyiv is also seeking to coordinate with the U.S. Treasury for additional support, according to Svyrydenko's statements, who confirmed that the government is working on preparing executable economic projects within the framework of international cooperation.
