Trump's Plan for Rebuilding Gaza: Transforming the Strip into a Tourist Center and Creating Smart Cities

The American newspaper "Washington Post" revealed in a report published today, Sunday, the plan of President Donald Trump's administration to completely resettle the residents of the Gaza Strip, as part of a project that is supposed to be part of the reconstruction of the region after years of conflict and destruction.

* Features of the Plan
The plan, which consists of 38 pages, focuses on resettling all residents of Gaza, who number more than two million, either through "voluntary" departure to other countries or by relocating them to safe and secure areas within the Strip.
This measure is part of a plan to secure the reconstruction of Gaza and redevelop its lands after a period of conflict.

The plan also stipulates transforming Gaza into a "tourist center" under American oversight for a period of 10 years, where it will be fully supervised by an office affiliated with the U.S. government, with an attempt to rebuild the area on modern and sustainable foundations.

* Resettlement Trust Fund
One of the most prominent elements of the plan is the establishment of a trust fund dedicated to assisting the residents of Gaza in their resettlement, whether within the Strip or in other countries.
This fund will provide a "digital token" to landowners in exchange for the rights to redevelop their properties, to be used as a tool to finance a new life elsewhere or to exchange their properties in other projects.

As part of the plan, 6 to 8 smart cities supported by artificial intelligence will be established within Gaza, aimed at replacing the affected areas and creating a more advanced environment for the future.

* Humanitarian Implications and Food Crisis
This report comes at a difficult time for the Strip, as the United Nations announced in August 2025 a state of famine in Gaza, amid worsening humanitarian and economic conditions.
It is noted that the recent conflict between Hamas and Israel, which began in October 2023 with Hamas's attack on southern Israel, resulted in the deaths of more than 63,300 people in Gaza, the majority of whom were civilians.
The attack also resulted in the deaths of 1,219 people in Israel according to official data.

* Opinions on the Plan
Reports indicate that there is significant controversy surrounding this plan in political and international circles, with some viewing Trump's project as a step towards the forced displacement of Gaza's residents, while others see it as a serious attempt to rebuild the Strip in light of the significant challenges it faces.

The plan aims to direct large amounts of money and aid for reconstruction, but at the same time raises questions about Gaza's political autonomy and its residents' right to self-determination.
