Trump: Negotiations with Hamas are progressing well and I may visit Egypt on Sunday to discuss Gaza agreement

U.S. President Donald Trump said that the ongoing negotiations between Israel and Hamas are going well, indicating the possibility of a visit to Egypt next Sunday to follow up on efforts to reach a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip.
Trump explained in statements to reporters on Wednesday evening:
> "I was just talking to officials about the Gaza deal, and we are very close to achieving the goal".
He added that "all Islamic and Arab countries are engaged in the process like never before," referring to the widening scope of regional and international participation in mediation efforts.
For his part, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed that President Trump may visit the Middle East if an agreement is reached to end the war in Gaza, saying:
> "The decision is up to the president, but he is likely to show interest in the visit if his schedule allows".
Rubio noted that the negotiations "have made tangible progress and are moving in a positive direction," although some issues are still under discussion.
In a related context, Israeli Channel 12 reported from sources that Trump is considering attending the signing of the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas in Egypt, while Hebrew media reported that the Israeli government has begun drafting a proposal regarding the exchange of prisoners and detainees in preparation for putting it to a vote.
The city of Sharm El Sheikh is currently witnessing intensive meetings with wide regional and international participation, aimed at creating an atmosphere for concluding a comprehensive agreement that puts an end to the ongoing confrontations in the Gaza Strip and re-launches the calming process.
