The Associated Press reported that the remains of American activist and influencer Charlie Kirk, who was assassinated on Wednesday in Utah, will be transferred today, Thursday, to Arizona on board the plane of U.S. Vice President JD Vance.
According to the source, Vance changed his schedule and canceled his participation in the commemorative events for the September 11 attacks in New York, instead heading to Utah to meet Kirk's family and close friends, before accompanying them on the journey to transport the casket to Arizona where the deceased resided.
The source noted that temporary restrictions on air traffic have been imposed in the Utah and Arizona regions, reflecting security arrangements related to the movements of prominent figures such as the Vice President.
Meanwhile, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced a reward of $100,000 for information leading to the arrest of the suspect in the murder, and published a photo of a young man they said is the perpetrator, confirming that his identity was established after finding the weapon used in the crime.
For his part, former President Donald Trump mourned Kirk (31 years old), describing him during a speech at the Pentagon on the anniversary of the September 11 attacks as "a giant of his generation and a champion of freedom," announcing that he would posthumously award him the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian honor in the United States.
Trump held what he described as "radical left" responsible for Kirk's murder, vowing to pursue those he deemed involved in what he called "a dark moment in America's history."
