France sends 3 fighter jets to protect Polish airspace after drone incident

French President Emmanuel Macron announced today the deployment of three Rafale fighter jets to patrol Polish airspace, in a move aimed at enhancing security on Europe's eastern flank in cooperation with NATO allies.
Macron wrote on his account on the "X" platform:
"We have decided to use three Rafale fighters to participate in the protection of Polish airspace and the eastern flank of Europe in cooperation with NATO allies."
The French president explained that the decision was coordinated with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who is also participating in the protection of the eastern flank.
Macron also emphasized that ensuring the security of Europe is his priority, referring to what he described as "escalation of intimidation" by Russia towards the continent.
This announcement comes after the incident of a drone being shot down over Poland, which Tusk described as "Russian," without providing evidence. Meanwhile, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen indicated that the incident involved more than ten drones.
The Russian side responded to the allegations, with the acting Russian ambassador to Poland, Andrei Ordash, stating that Poland had not provided any evidence of Russia's involvement, while Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the Russian leadership had not received any request for contact from the Polish side, considering that the daily accusations from the European Union and NATO without evidence are baseless.
