The White House: TikTok Agreement Ensures American Control Over App Algorithms

The White House confirmed that the proposed agreement with China regarding the TikTok app will ensure that American companies will control the video content algorithm.

White House spokesperson, Caroline Levitt, told Fox News that Oracle will take responsibility for data and security, with American control over six out of seven seats on the board of the proposed app.

She added that the agreement has been practically approved, and what remains is the official signing, noting that President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping discussed the matter during a lengthy phone call last Friday.

Levitt indicated that American control will include the algorithm itself that determines what is shown to users on the app, which was one of the main concerns for the U.S. regarding the potential manipulation of content by Chinese authorities.
