The Wall Street Journal Warns: Iran is Weakened but Still Militarily Deadly, Iran Continues to Retain Missile Capability

Iran possesses a large missile arsenal
The report highlighted that Tehran has about two thousand medium-range ballistic missiles capable of reaching Israel, in addition to large stockpiles of short-range missiles to strike American bases in the Gulf and ships in the Strait of Hormuz, anti-ship cruise missiles, torpedo boats, and drones that pose a strategic threat.
Increased risk of military escalation
Experts estimated that the diversity of Iranian capabilities allows it to strike multiple targets simultaneously, increasing the risks of escalation if Washington resorts to military options, despite the United States enhancing its military presence in the region with aircraft carrier groups and air defense systems.
Challenges to American and Gulf air defenses
The report clarified that American and Israeli air defense systems, despite their effectiveness, may be unable to intercept all Iranian missiles in the event of a heavy attack, especially given the vast geography that needs protection, and based on the experience of the June war in which Iran launched 550 missiles, only 86% of which were intercepted.
Development of Iranian military strategies
The newspaper noted that Iran has developed its military strategies after the previous experience, including launch timing, distribution of missile platforms, and expanding the range of targets, which increases the chances of penetrating American and Israeli air defenses in any future confrontation.
Iran maintains missile deterrence
The report concluded that Iran, despite challenges and losses, is still capable of turning any limited confrontation into a multi-front conflict, affirming the continued effectiveness of its missile arsenal and its potential military response.
