UN envoy to Syria warns of the repercussions of Israeli attacks and calls for an immediate halt.

The UN Special Envoy to Syria, Geir Pedersen, expressed his "deep concern about the unacceptable acts of violence" taking place in Syria, condemning the recent Israeli attacks on Syrian territories and demanding an immediate halt to them.
Pedersen warned that the continuation of these escalations threatens the fragile stability in the country and increases social tensions.
This came in an official statement issued on Wednesday evening, April 30, in which Pedersen confirmed his monitoring of the situation, especially in the vicinity of the capital Damascus and the city of Homs, where there were reports of casualties among civilians and security forces.
Pedersen pointed out that these attacks, including the Israeli airstrikes, "undermine de-escalation efforts," calling for urgent measures to protect civilians and prevent the crisis from worsening.
The UN envoy also emphasized the necessity of "fair accountability" for anyone proven to be involved in committing acts of violence or incitement against civilians, stressing the importance of respecting Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
He reiterated his support for efforts aimed at resuming serious dialogue among all Syrian parties, based on trust and comprehensive participation to achieve stability.
