In the early hours of Thursday, the Israeli army announced intercepting a missile launched from Yemen towards Israel, triggering alarms in multiple areas in the country. According to Israeli army spokesperson Avichay Adraee, the missile was intercepted as it was heading towards Israel from Saada, Yemen, activating alarms in Jerusalem, its surroundings, and Tel Aviv. Explosions were heard in Jerusalem after the Israeli army launched interception missiles, leading to the closure of Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv. Despite Israeli airstrikes targeting Houthi locations in Yemen, the Houthis continued missile and drone attacks on Israel since the Gaza war in October 2023. The US responded to the escalating Houthi attacks with an intense airstrike campaign in Yemen in March 2025, halted after mediation by Oman resulting in a ceasefire agreement between the US and the Houthis. Nevertheless, the Houthis' stance towards Israel remains hostile. These attacks continue to highlight the ongoing escalation and complexities in the region, particularly concerning the relationship between the Houthis and Israel.
