In a time when Kyiv fears a large-scale attack by Russian forces from border areas, following the escalation between the two countries since the conflict began, the Russian army announced today, Tuesday, its control over a town in the Ukrainian province of Sumy, near the border with Russia. The town of Andriivka, which came under Russian control, is approximately 5 kilometers from the border. The Russian Ministry of Defense stated in a press release that "as a result of the offensive operations, units of the Russian Northern Group forces liberated the town of Andriivka in the Sumy province." The Ministry added that the group targeted human force concentrations and military equipment of two Ukrainian mechanized infantry brigades and a regional defense brigade in the areas of Novaya Sich, Yunakivka, Kurchakivka, Eskryskovshchyna, and Sadky in the Sumy province.
