The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Hussein Ibrahim Taha, welcomed today, Thursday, the announcement by US President Donald Trump to lift sanctions on Syria.

The Secretary-General of the organization noted in a statement the great efforts made by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in seeking to lift sanctions on Syria.

Taha expressed his hopes that this decision will contribute to alleviating the suffering of the Syrian people, paving the way for building a safe and prosperous future, and supporting stability and reconstruction.
