Two Iranian official sources said on Wednesday that Tehran may stop enriching uranium if the United States releases frozen Iranian funds and acknowledges Tehran's right to enrich uranium for civilian use under a "political agreement" that could lead to a broader nuclear deal. The sources close to the negotiating team added that "a political understanding with the United States could be reached soon" if Washington accepts Tehran's conditions. One of the sources said that the matter "has not been discussed yet" in talks with the United States. According to this agreement, Tehran will halt uranium enrichment for a year, send part of its highly enriched stockpile abroad, or convert it into nuclear fuel plates for civilian nuclear purposes.
