Minister of Education Dr. Mohammad Abdul Rahman Turkou, and the Director General of the Middle East Department at the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development "BMZ", Ms. Kristin Totschke, inaugurated the second Saqba Girls' School in rural Damascus today, Wednesday. The German government, through the United Nations Development Programme in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, rehabilitated the school consisting of 3 floors with 22 classrooms, a laboratory, an art room, and an IT room equipped with a solar energy system to promote sustainable energy sources. In his opening speech, the Minister of Education expressed pride in the support provided by the German government to the education sector in Syria, emphasizing the importance of enhancing bilateral cooperation to improve educational infrastructure and create a suitable environment for students to return to schools, especially in areas affected by destruction, thus providing educational opportunities for them. Totschke highlighted that the reopening of the school is part of the efforts and sacrifices of the local community, stressing the importance of supporting the integration of students with special needs and providing a suitable educational environment for them. The Director of Education in rural Damascus, Mr. Fadi Nizhat, mentioned that the school currently accommodates 580 students, and efforts are underway to ensure the resumption of official classes at the beginning of the next academic year, affirming that education remains the cornerstone for developing students' skills and empowering them to build the new future of Syria.
