During a field visit to the city of Aleppo, the Minister of Economy and Industry, Dr. Nidal Al-Shaar, held a broad meeting today, Wednesday, with representatives of the production sectors, in the presence of the Governor of Aleppo, Mr. Azzam Al-Ghareeb, and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, to follow up on the local economic situation and listen to the proposals of industrialists and traders.
The workshop witnessed an open discussion about the main challenges facing the textile, leather, and iron industries, where attendees called for the exemption of raw materials from customs duties, in order to enhance the competitiveness of local products against imported goods.
The minister stressed the need to achieve a balance between supply and demand to ensure market stability, noting that some obstacles are still related to a previous administrative and economic legacy, emphasizing the importance of having decision-makers in the field alongside citizens.
For his part, the governor welcomed the minister and the economic activities, affirming his commitment to finding practical solutions that support local growth, calling for regular meetings to exchange visions and work together among the concerned parties.
