Syrian President Ahmad al-Shara, along with his wife Mrs. Latifa al-Droubi, welcomed Admiral Charles Bradley Cooper, Commander of the U.S. Central Command, and his wife Mrs. Susan Cooper, along with the U.S. Special Envoy to Syria, Thomas Barak, and the accompanying delegation, at the People's Palace in Damascus today, in the presence of several ministers and senior Syrian officials.
During the meeting, the prospects for cooperation between Damascus and Washington in political and military fields were discussed, in a way that serves mutual interests and contributes to enhancing security and stability in Syria and the region.
Both sides confirmed, as reflected in the atmosphere of the meeting, their mutual commitment to developing the strategic partnership and opening wider horizons for communication and coordination between the two countries at various levels.
