Interior: Arrest of the suspect involved in the murder of Dr. Basel Zeino and referral to the competent authorities in Aleppo

The spokesperson for the Syrian Ministry of Interior, Nour al-Din al-Baba, announced that the Criminal Investigation Branch in the Rural Damascus Governorate managed, today Friday, to arrest the individual (N.K.), who is involved in the murder of Dr. Basel Zeino, which took place in front of his clinic in the Al-Jamiliah neighborhood of Aleppo a few days ago, sparking a wave of public and professional outrage.

Al-Baba explained that the suspect will be referred to the relevant security agencies in the city of Aleppo to complete the investigations, noting that the internal security leadership is closely monitoring the case to ensure that all legal procedures are completed and justice is served.

According to preliminary investigations, the crime stemmed from a family dispute over inheritance, as the Ministry of Interior revealed that the killer is a relative of the victim, and he was identified after cross-referencing evidence and analyzing available recordings and criminal information.

This crime comes in the context of a series of security incidents that have recently occurred in the city of Aleppo, prompting the relevant authorities to enhance preventive measures and pursue those involved in organized crimes.
