The General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces reported thwarting an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of drugs across the border with Syria on the evening of Sunday, May 4th.

A statement from the army stated that the Eastern Military Zone, in coordination with the Border Guards and relevant security agencies, monitored an attempt by a group of smugglers to illegally infiltrate from Syrian territories into Jordan.

Channel "Al-Mamlaka" quoted a responsible source in the General Command of the Armed Forces as saying: "Quick reaction patrols were deployed and rules of engagement were applied, leading to the smugglers fleeing back into Syrian territory."

The source added that "after intensifying search and inspection operations, large quantities of drugs were found, and the confiscated items were handed over to the relevant authorities."

The security source affirmed the Jordanian army's determination to continue using all its capabilities to confront infiltration and smuggling attempts, ensuring the security and stability of the kingdom.
