The Supreme Election Committee in Syria: The upcoming People's Assembly will embody "National Competencies" with the participation of all components

In light of the widespread official and popular interest in the ongoing electoral process, the Supreme Committee for the Elections of the People's Assembly announced the end of the deadline for submitting candidacy applications for membership in the assembly today.
This came in conjunction with statements from the official spokesperson of the committee, "Nawar Najma", who confirmed that the upcoming legislative council will represent a qualitative shift, indicating that the selection of members of the electoral bodies "came in response to these goals, and stemming from the desire to transition from a revolutionary mentality to a state mentality".
Najma stated in a post on the "X" platform: "The upcoming legislative council will be a council of national competencies, taking into account geographical, regional, social, and professional representation, and ensuring the participation of all components of the Syrian people in the first parliament after the revolution."
The spokesperson clarified that this council will work to preserve the rights of all segments of society, adding: "The new council will preserve the rights of ethnicities, races, sects, minorities, and women."
Najma emphasized in his statement the primary goal of the anticipated council, saying: "Emphasizing the importance of the next parliament being a true platform for conveying the concerns of all Syrians, away from any political, sectarian, or regional considerations."
He also pointed out that the legislative role of the council will focus on "creating a legislative revolution that meets the aspirations of the Syrian people," thereby enhancing its role in the construction phase that the country is witnessing.
