The European Union Designates the Iranian Revolutionary Guard as a Terrorist Organization

Strict Economic Sanctions
The designation includes freezing the funds and financial assets of the Revolutionary Guard within EU countries, and banning any financial or economic transactions by individuals or European companies, as part of the anti-terrorism sanctions regime. The decision takes effect immediately upon publication in the official journal of the European Union.
Context of the Decision
This action comes amid rising tensions and accusations of activities that threaten security and stability in the region. Currently, 13 individuals and 23 entities are included in the European "terrorism list," subject to the same restrictive sanctions.
Influence of the Revolutionary Guard
The Revolutionary Guard was established after the Islamic Revolution in 1979 to protect the Iranian regime and controls vast sectors of the economy and armed forces, as well as being responsible for ballistic missile and nuclear programs in Iran.
