Sweden announces a plan to repatriate Syrian refugees… even against their will

Forssell clarified that the plan targets refugees who have not obtained Swedish citizenship in the past ten years, noting that coordination is ongoing with the Danish government to persuade the Syrian authorities to accept their returning citizens.
As part of encouraging voluntary return, the minister revealed the government's intention to raise the return allowance to 350,000 Swedish kronor, to match the amount offered by Denmark in this context.
Sweden is home to about 250,000 people of Syrian origin, including 20,000 who do not hold citizenship, making them part of the targeted group in the new plan.
