Lieutenant General Osama Rabie, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority, confirmed that navigation in the canal is proceeding normally from both directions despite rising regional tensions due to the war on Iran.
He explained that 56 ships crossed the canal on Tuesday with a total cargo of 2.6 million tons, with the north convoy consisting of 24 ships carrying one million tons, and the south convoy consisting of 32 ships carrying 1.6 million tons.
Continuity of Work and Coordination
Rabie noted that the recent decisions by some shipping companies to change their routes are temporary and subject to developments in the security situation in the region.
He emphasized the Authority's ongoing efforts to maintain direct communication with clients and global shipping lines to ensure effective coordination that preserves the stability of international trade.
Resilience of the Canal
Over the past three days, approximately 100 ships have crossed the canal with a total cargo of 3.8 million tons, reflecting the canal's ability to withstand challenges and regional disturbances.
Rabie concluded his statement by affirming that the stability of the security situation in the region will enhance the freedom of international navigation and reassure global markets about the continuity of this vital artery.
