Air raid sirens sound in northern Israel after rockets launched from Lebanon

The Israeli army reported early Monday, March 2, 2026, that rockets were launched from Lebanese territory, triggering air raid sirens in northern Israel, marking the first incident of this kind since the start of American and Israeli strikes on Iran.
These developments come more than two years after a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon mediated by the United States in 2024, which ended a bloody conflict with the Hezbollah group, during which Israeli strikes peaked and significantly weakened the Iran-backed party's capabilities.
Since then, both sides have exchanged accusations of violating the agreement, amid ongoing tensions along the border.
So far, there has been no official comment from Hezbollah regarding the rocket launches, despite its recent solidarity with Iran, while media sources confirmed that the party did not clarify whether it would engage in any new confrontation.
In a later statement, the Israeli army announced that it intercepted some rockets, while others fell in open areas without causing any injuries or damage.
This incident reflects the escalation of regional tensions following recent American and Israeli strikes on Iranian facilities and opens the door to the possibility of a new confrontation in northern Israel and Lebanon, with anticipation of reactions from Hezbollah and Tehran.
