Seizure of a shipment of narcotic hashish at the Jousieh crossing coming from Lebanon

As part of ongoing efforts to combat smuggling, customs officials at the Jousieh border crossing in the Homs countryside managed to seize a shipment of narcotic hashish that was in the possession of one of the travelers coming from Lebanon.
The statement issued by the Syrian General Authority for Land and Maritime Ports indicated that "the quantity was confiscated, the proper report was organized, and the case was referred to the Anti-Narcotics Department for further investigation and necessary legal actions against the smuggler".
The statement also emphasized that "customs and security personnel are making significant efforts around the clock to confront smuggling operations, especially the smuggling of narcotic substances targeting the Syrian community, through tightening control, activating the role of inspection units, and continuous coordination with the Anti-Narcotics Department and relevant authorities to ensure border protection and safeguard the security of the nation and its citizens".
It is noteworthy that this security achievement comes in the context of a series of major seizures, as the management of the Nasib border crossing with Jordan seized last January, "a large shipment of narcotic pills amounting to more than 7 million pills, which were hidden inside a shipment prepared for export abroad".
