Bedouin families prepare to return to the countryside of Sweida after years of displacement

Return despite the lack of services
According to testimonies from residents, the return to their birthplace comes from a desire to restore normal life, despite the targeted villages lacking the most basic living necessities, such as infrastructure and essential services.
Government plan for stability restoration
Sweida Governor Mustafa Al-Bakur confirmed in a statement on September 10 that the Syrian government, led by the Ministry of Emergency, is monitoring the conditions of the displaced residing in temporary shelters within Sweida and in Daraa Governorate, indicating that there is a comprehensive plan to return the displaced to their villages and properties, ensuring them a safe and dignified return.
In a previous statement on August 13, Al-Bakur clarified that work is underway to rehabilitate 51 villages in the eastern and western countrysides of Sweida, reaching the administrative borders with Daraa, in coordination with the relevant authorities, with the aim of providing a suitable environment for the stability of returnees.
