Saudi Interior Ministry's Measures to Organize Entry to Mecca During Hajj Season 2026

The Saudi Interior Ministry announced today, April 13, 2026, a package of new measures in preparation for the Hajj season, aimed at ensuring the safety of pilgrims and facilitating the performance of rituals.

The ministry clarified that starting from April 18, 2026, residents wishing to enter Mecca must obtain official permits from the relevant authorities.


Requirement for Official Permits and Prohibition of Unauthorized Entry to Mecca

The ministry confirmed the prohibition of residents entering Mecca without an official permit, with exceptions for specific categories including holders of resident IDs issued from Mecca, those with Hajj permits, or work permits in the holy sites issued electronically through the "Absher Individuals" platform and the "Muqeem" portal in integration with the "Permit" platform.


Deadline for Departure of Umrah Pilgrims Before Hajj Season 2026

In a related context, the Interior Ministry set Saturday, 1 Dhul-Qi'dah 1447 AH, corresponding to April 18, 2026, as the last date for the departure of those arriving in the Kingdom on Umrah visas, as part of the organizational measures for the Hajj season.


Suspension of Umrah Permit Issuance via Nusuk Platform Until the End of Hajj Season

The ministry announced the suspension of Umrah permit issuance via the "Nusuk" platform for citizens, citizens of Gulf Cooperation Council countries, and residents within the Kingdom, in addition to holders of other visas, starting from April 18, 2026, until May 31, 2026, corresponding to 14 Dhul-Hijjah 1447 AH.


Prohibition of Entry for Visa Holders to Mecca Except for Hajj Visa

The Interior Ministry emphasized the prohibition of entry or stay for holders of all types of visas in Mecca starting from April 18, 2026, except for those holding Hajj visas, as part of the organization of movement within the holy city during the season.


Call for Compliance with Instructions and Warning of Legal Penalties

The Saudi Interior Ministry called on all individuals to comply with the regulations governing the Hajj season and to cooperate with the relevant authorities to ensure the security and safety of the guests of Allah, emphasizing that violating these procedures will expose offenders to legal penalties.
