Saudi Arabia condemns the attack on the Al-Darajah Mosque and calls for the protection of civilians in Sudan

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia condemned on Saturday the attack that targeted the Al-Darajah Mosque in the city of Al-Fasher, Sudan, which resulted in the death and injury of dozens during the Fajr prayer, considering the incident a "blatant violation of international humanitarian law".

The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed the Kingdom's rejection of attacks on civilians and called for an immediate cessation of the war in Sudan, and the implementation of what was agreed upon in the Jeddah Declaration regarding the protection of civilians, while offering condolences to the victims' families and wishing a speedy recovery to the injured.

The number of documented victims reached 65 dead as of Friday evening according to the Ministry of Health in North Darfur, amid expectations of an increase in the number due to bodies being trapped under the rubble and the difficulty of identifying them, while the residents have been suffering from a suffocating siege since June 2024 that prevents the arrival of essential supplies, raising urgent calls to open humanitarian corridors.
