U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced today, Sunday, that the Hamas movement has agreed in principle to the proposed visions regarding the next phase of the war in the Gaza Strip, noting that implementing these understandings will require time and significant efforts.
Rubio stated in press remarks that it is still early to talk about the end of the war, adding that "there is some work that needs to be done before moving to the second phase related to disarmament and withdrawal," emphasizing that this phase "will not be easy".
The American minister explained that intensive meetings are currently taking place between the concerned parties regarding the future arrangements for Gaza, expressing hope to "quickly finalize the logistical details related to the agreement".
Rubio added: "After Hamas leaves the sector, we will need a period of time to form a new civilian administration to manage Gaza's affairs," confirming that the coming days will reveal "the seriousness of Hamas in its commitments".
