Qatar condemned, on Friday, the Iranian attack that targeted buildings in Bahrain housing Qatari security personnel, describing it as a hostile act and a blatant violation of Bahrain's sovereignty and a direct threat to the security of the region.
The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a statement that the buildings affected by the strikes housed members of the Qatari Emiri Naval Forces participating in the unified maritime operations center of the unified military command of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
Doha confirmed that all Qatari forces present at the targeted sites are safe and no injuries have been reported among them, noting that the Qatari embassy in Bahrain is closely monitoring their situation in coordination with the relevant authorities in the Kingdom to ensure their safety.
The Qatari Foreign Ministry emphasized Doha's full solidarity with the Kingdom of Bahrain in facing this aggression, considering that targeting facilities that include forces operating within the framework of joint Gulf cooperation represents a serious escalation that affects the security of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and undermines the principles of good neighborliness and respect for the sovereignty of states.
Qatar also called for an end to the escalation and adherence to international law and the United Nations Charter, stressing that the continuation of such attacks threatens the stability of the region and increases the risks of regional tension.
These developments come amid rising military tensions in the region, with warnings of repercussions that could extend to the security of navigation and energy in the Gulf.
