Official sources announced that Syrian President Ahmad al-Shara' will begin an official visit to the Russian capital, Moscow, tomorrow, Wednesday, where he is scheduled to meet with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to discuss bilateral relations and files of political, economic, and military cooperation.
The visit comes at a sensitive time witnessing major transformations in the Middle East, while Moscow and Damascus emphasize the strength of their strategic partnership.
Al-Shara' will also head his country's delegation participating in the Arab-Russian summit hosted by Moscow in mid-October, with the participation of leaders and heads from various Arab countries.
The summit is expected to focus on enhancing Arab-Russian cooperation in the fields of energy, investment, and regional security, in addition to discussing crisis files in the region.
This participation marks the first attendance of President al-Shara' at a major international summit since taking office, giving it a special political dimension and reflecting Damascus's desire to return to the Arab and international diplomatic arena through the Russian gateway.
