Portuguese Prime Minister Luis Montenegro announced that he will visit the affected areas in the districts of Leiria and Coimbra, and he has canceled all his scheduled foreign trips, including official visits to Andorra and Croatia, to focus on relief efforts and oversee the situation.
Casualty and Damage Toll
Local media, including Jornal de Notícias, reported that the storm has resulted in the death of five people so far, with extensive damage recorded to infrastructure and property.
Emergency teams continue to work on rescuing those trapped and securing the most affected areas, amid warnings of the possibility of severe weather continuing in the coming days.
