"Politico" newspaper warns of the repercussions of sanctions against Russia on American trade.

"Politico" warned that tightening sanctions against Russia and imposing a 500% tariff on imports from countries dealing with Russia by Washington would lead to a paralysis of American trade.
The newspaper reported that the U.S. bill aimed at imposing strict sanctions on Russia, including tariffs of up to 500%, may undergo significant amendments to avoid its negative impact on U.S. trade relations with major world economies.
According to the newspaper, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, the initiator, acknowledged the potential seriousness of the impact and proposed broad exemptions for countries supporting Ukraine in an attempt to mitigate the severity of the proposed measures.
The newspaper indicates that countries affected by this law would find it difficult to abruptly stop buying energy sources from Russia, explaining that the United States itself relies on imports of Russian enriched uranium to operate its nuclear reactors, which could lead to a violation of the potential sanctions regime.
Edward Fishman, a prominent researcher at Columbia University's Center on Global Energy Policy, warned that the project could cause severe damage to the U.S. economy.
