The U.S. Under Secretary of Defense for Policy stated on Thursday that the directives issued by the Department of Defense focus on directly targeting Iranian military capabilities as part of ongoing operations against Tehran.
The official explained that the current operation in Iran differs from the U.S. experience in Iraq, emphasizing that the United States is not seeking to rebuild the Iranian state or manage a post-conflict phase.
He added that Iran, according to U.S. estimates, does not enjoy widespread support in the region, noting that the attacks on neighboring countries during the recent escalation have contributed to its regional isolation.
