U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Iran is targeting countries unrelated to the current conflict, accusing Tehran of bombing civilian areas during its recent attacks in the region.
Trump clarified, in remarks reported by Reuters on Thursday, that a new military strike targeted what he described as the "new leadership" in Iran, noting that several Iranian officials have begun to demand immunity as military strikes continue.
He added that the United States will monitor what happens inside Iran in the coming period, but emphasized that the current priority is to eliminate the Iranian army and its military capabilities.
Trump pointed out that the worst-case scenario involves executing military strikes against Iran and then a new figure coming to power who does not differ in policies from the previous leadership.
He also indicated that a figure from within Iran might be more suitable to lead the country in the next phase, while at the same time expressing his support for the possibility of the Kurds launching attacks against Iran if they decide to do so.
