New Attack at a French School Revives Debate on Student Violence

One of the high schools in southern France experienced a serious incident when a student stabbed his 60-year-old teacher, resulting in severe injuries that required her to be urgently transported for treatment.

The police were able to arrest the student immediately, and he was charged with attempted murder after it was confirmed that he stabbed her at least three times.

French Education Minister Edouard Geffray expressed his solidarity with the teacher and her family, emphasizing that the ministry is closely monitoring the incident and that protecting educational staff is a priority that cannot be overlooked.

In 2024, a teaching assistant was killed in an attack carried out by a student, and another assault occurred in April of the same year, resulting in the death of a girl and injuries to several students.
