The Moroccan Ministry of Interior announced today, Wednesday, that authorities have evacuated more than 108,000 people in areas of northwestern the country since last Friday, as part of precautionary measures due to the risk of floods resulting from heavy rains.
The ministry explained that this step was based on warning bulletins issued by the relevant authorities, warning of exceptional water inflows that could affect several water facilities, particularly the Oued Makhazen dam, which has recorded an unprecedented rise in its water level.
It added that this rise could put significant pressure on the dam facilities, necessitating an increase in preparedness and the implementation of preventive measures to protect residents and property.
