The family of Liverpool star and Egyptian national team player Mohamed Salah announced the death of his grandfather on his mother's side, Haj Ahmed Abdel Aziz Al-Bamby, who passed away on Monday due to a sudden health crisis at his home in the village of Nagrig in Gharbia Governorate.

The body was buried after the noon prayer, attended by Salah's father, Salah Ghaly, and his brother, Nasser Salah, while Mohamed Salah was absent from the funeral due to being in the United Kingdom for a Liverpool match against Sunderland in the English Premier League.

Abdel Aziz Al-Bamby, the deceased's son and Mohamed Salah's uncle, confirmed the news of the death via his Facebook account saying:

"Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we shall return .. my father is in the care of Allah".

The Egyptian Football Association expressed its condolences to the Egyptian star, stating in an official statement:

"The Board of Directors, the Secretary-General, the technical staff of the national teams, and all employees extend their heartfelt condolences and sympathy to the Egyptian star Mohamed Salah, captain of the Egypt national team and Liverpool, on the passing of his grandfather, may Allah have mercy on him .. praying that Allah grants him vast mercy and inspires his family and relatives with patience and solace .. Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we shall return".

Meanwhile, Mohamed Salah's attendance at his grandfather's mourning has not yet been confirmed, which is expected to take place in the coming days, amid expectations that the player's attendance will be limited to the mourning after his commitments with his team in the English Premier League.

This painful occasion reminds everyone of the humanity of football heroes, who despite their global fame, remain connected to their roots and loved ones.
