Abdel Aziz Al-Bamby, the deceased's son and Mohamed Salah's uncle, confirmed the news of the death via his Facebook account saying:
"Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we shall return .. my father is in the care of Allah".
The Egyptian Football Association expressed its condolences to the Egyptian star, stating in an official statement:
"The Board of Directors, the Secretary-General, the technical staff of the national teams, and all employees extend their heartfelt condolences and sympathy to the Egyptian star Mohamed Salah, captain of the Egypt national team and Liverpool, on the passing of his grandfather, may Allah have mercy on him .. praying that Allah grants him vast mercy and inspires his family and relatives with patience and solace .. Meanwhile, Mohamed Salah's attendance at his grandfather's mourning has not yet been confirmed, which is expected to take place in the coming days, amid expectations that the player's attendance will be limited to the mourning after his commitments with his team in the English Premier League.
